Childcare Options

Childcare Services

Choosing the right child care option can be quite a challenge for parents. With so many different types available, it's natural to wonder which one would be the best fit for your family.

The ideal child care solution depends on various factors such as your child's age, your budget, and the number of hours you require. For instance, if you have preschool-aged children, their needs would differ from those of elementary-aged children who might only require care during the summer months.

To help you make an informed decision, I have compiled a list below that outlines different types of child care options. Take a look and find the one that suits your family's needs best.

Nanny

A nanny is a professional caregiver hired to provide personalized and comprehensive childcare services within a private household. Nannies typically work closely with families to ensure the well-being, safety, and development of children in their care.

Their responsibilities often extend beyond basic supervision to include tasks such as meal preparation, educational activities, transportation to and from school or extracurricular activities, and light household duties related to the children.

Mothers Help

A Mothers Help, also known as a Junior Nanny, is hired to assist with various tasks around the house while working alongside a parent in a shared care role.

With more expertise than an Au Pair, a Mothers Help takes on responsibilities related to childcare and household chores to support busy parents.

A mothers help can work up to 35 hours a week and do additional babysitting.

Maternity Nanny

Maternity nannies can help with feeding, bathing, and sleep training, while also providing emotional support for new mothers.

Maternity nannies work for a family 4-6 months.typically commence their role with a schedule of 24/6, and subsequently transition to 12-hour shifts per day once the baby starts sleeping through the night. However, they continue to be available for assistance round the clock, remaining on a 24-hour "on call" basis.

Governess

As children grow older, parents often consider hiring a live-in or live-out 'governess' to assist in their development and education.

This role goes beyond basic childcare, as the governess provides guidance, discipline, and moral teachings to the children under her care.

While the role of a governess has evolved over time, it remains an integral part of childcare for certain families.

A Governess works between 8-10 hours a day.

Nanny vs Nanny Housekeeping

A nanny housekeeper can take on various roles depending on your needs.

They can either take full charge of caring for your children, work alongside you as a team, or primarily focus on keeping your house in order while also providing child care when you are busy with other tasks.

Rota Nanny

A rota nanny, a full-time live-in nanny required to work 24/7 when on duty.

A Rota Nanny follows a “rotation” system with at least one other rota nanny as they take turns every other week. So normally, a Rota Nanny will ideally have two weeks on and two weeks off.

Night Nanny

A night nanny is your child’s caretaker from the hours of around 9 pm to 6 am the next morning, though those hours may be reduced depending on family preference, needs, and income.

The night nanny can help parents with sleep training, feeds, nappy changes and settling your baby/child overnight.

Holiday Nanny

Holiday nannies are nannies who will do short term/ temporary roles during your children’s holidays such as half terms, Christmas, Easter or summer holidays and travel with the family.

The major attribute of holiday nannies is their varied skill set.

Au Pair Placement

My au pair placement service is ideal for families who need an extra set of hands to help with childcare and household chores. Au pairs are carefully selected to provide reliable and efficient support.

Au Pairs work 25-30 hours a week only and cannot take sole care of children under the age of 2 years.
